November Calendar......

At the moment there is a class being taught. Helena is in the class and made a passing comment that there was no November calendar. I asked her what she meant. She laughed and said that on the first of each month she always looks to see what's happening here - but there was no November calendar.

Helena can you please email me later in the month so that l don't do the same in December. By the way l have just added the November calendar.

The Weather.....

In Victoria this week we have experienced a run of days in the thirties. After such a warm summer last year l asked my landlord to consider air conditioning. Some days it reached 43C in here. A deterrent for customers.

Consider it she did and last Saturday the unit was installed. And the verdict, absolutely wonderful! I haven't noticed the hot days at all, the shop is a very comfortable 21C. So don't be put off by the warm days any more. The air con will always be on and a homemade cordial ready for you when you arrive. I made that last night and it's yum!

The new Homespun.....

has hit the newsagents in Monbulk so l guess it's available everywhere by now.

Jennifer from Jennifer Knol Designs has a project in it. If you take a look at the front cover it's the lovely pink and white wall hanging. Of course if you want any of Jen's other patterns, (there are pics of her quilts in her profile) let me know. We have them all in stock. If you'd like your local shop to stock Jen's patterns give them my details. I am her wholesaler.

There's also a BAGuette from Natalie at Cinderberry Stitches. To complete the bag you need a pair of red leather handles which by chance l happen to have in stock. Mine are 65cm, a little longer than what Nat says, but what's a couple of cms. The bag will fit nicely on your shoulder.

I think l need a cuddle.....

We have sewing circles on the 1st and 3rd Monday night of the month. I was dreading this week because I was working 5 nights and then again on Sunday.

Had a quick dinner tonight and then rushed back to try to get some finishing touches done for the stitching day kits before the 2 groups of girls arrived. Time was ticking and no one had arrived. If l hurried l might just be able to get another job done. And then it dawned on me. Today is the 2nd Monday night of the month, not the 1st. Those girls will not be coming. They'll be here next week instead.

I've put the shop back together ready for tomorrow. I will be home in time to get a bit of stitching done before it's bed time.

Good morning.....

Just realised l had hidden the mystery quilt in the Block of the Month album. It now has an album of it's own. Scroll down the right hand side of the blog. Available on the 3rd Monday of each month.

I will add the instructions for the 6 inch sampler through out the day. (Sorry l am a bit behind. In theory a 4 day weekend is wonderful, however you pay for it when you get back to work).

Don't forget we have Anni Downes at the shop on the 12 November at 7.00 pm. There is also the Antique Quilt presentation on Thursday November 26 at 7.00pm. There are places available for both.

A finished project.....

Julie has finished her 2008 Thangles quilt which l'd like to share with you. Her youngest son has claimed it.

 

While we are on the subject of Thangles, next year's project is going to be a star block - a scrappy 8inch block on a cream background.

A Merry Monbulk Christmas.....

As you know my little town Monbulk is holding A Merry Monbulk Christmas on Friday November 27th, 5.45pm - 9.00pm. It's a great opportunity for you to knock over some Chrissy shopping and bag some bargains. All the participating shops will be offering great specials on the night.

Monbulk Jewellers are offering free ring cleaning and appraisals. But they are also encouraging you to haggle. If you see something you 'd like forget the marked price simply make them an offer. A little bit of  haggling on both sides and you should walk away with a big smile on your face and something special in your shopping bag.

Monday morning catchup.....

I have had a lovely weekend, in fact it is still going.Tomorrow is Melbourne Cup Day. In the metropolitan area we have a public holiday. I decided to give myself a 4 day long weekend and so l am home today, all on my own - now that doesn't happen very often. I am going to watch Dr Phil followed by The View. Of course l will be sewing on the bindings of a quilt while l am doing that.

We are nearly at the end of the bathroom renovations. The floors were sanded and lacquered on Saturday. I can move the bits back into the laundry tonight. Can't wait. I have been without a washing machine since Thursday.

Alan will finish the tiling tomorrow and then the painter comes in on Wednesday. The plumber will be in once the painting is finished and then I'll show you the pics.

Have never had much luck growing vegies at our place. Not enough sunlight. This year l have taken all the plants off the deck and put them in the garden. Yesterday l planted some herbs, tomatoes and an assortment of lettuces. Hope they do well.

It's November 2nd and that can only mean one thing. It's Ray's birthday. We caught up with the boys last Thursday and tonight we are going out to a little restaurant close by to celebrate with a couple of friends.
