The question on everyone's lips..... I love ric rac and sell it in all colours and sizes, my fav would have to be the linen ric rac. Have never known how you measure the width of the different ric racs until now.
Great to use when doing embroidery, simply run through your printer, press onto your background fabric and start stitching.
Then simply remove by submerging in warm water, agitate for 2 - 3 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
This is a brand new pattern from Gail Pan Designs(at least it's new to me, you may have seen it on her blog or during one of her classes). l love this quilt because of the colours Gail has used. It's a bright and happy looking quilt. All done in reds, greens and blues, a yummy combination you'd have to agree.
Alternate stitchery blocks with pieced blocks. Then add a border. All done.
Well we have talked about doing this for twelve months. My first best friend Bron has been planning our trip to the States. We've chatted about what we'd like to do and places we'd like to see. Bron has passed all these ideas onto her travel agent friend. And yesterday she came back to us with an itinerary. Tomorrow we book our tics.
Best Wishes Marian is the latest design from Cathy at Willow Valley Store. You can find out all the details about what's in the pattern in the New Patterns Album.
What l really want to share with you here is that Cathy will be offering a class on how to make the Zippered Pouch (bottom right hand side in the pic). In just 2 hours you will walk away with a project that's almost finished. And Cath guarantees that you will have absolutely now trouble with the zip. The class is scheduled for Friday June 13th, a perfect night to learn how to put zips in. The kit will be included in the price of the class. Just need to price it an l will get back to you.
I have lived in Monbulk since 1983. During that whole time the one family has owned the mens wear shop which has always been supported by the locals. Trish grew up in the town. She and her husband raised their family in Monbulk. Now all of a sudden there has been change.
Trish used to come to Sewing Circle every Tuesday with her friends. Most of them life long friends and some of us new ones. She has not been a well person but she never complained. She appreciated a good joke and told an even better one. Then one day almost 12 months ago she went into hospital. Little did we know that she would never return to Tuesday sewing. She has been in and out of hospital since then. She never came home, always went and stayed with her daughter until she was well. One of her very dear friends Maureen used to give us weekly updates.
Last night l got a phone call to say that Trish had died. She will be missed by many.
As if that wasn't enough for her family, her husband closed his business no more than a coupe of weeks ago and moved out of the town. He isn't well either. In no time at all the shop has been refurbished and a Real Estate agent has moved in. To visitors to the town there is absolutely no sign that the Proctors were ever a part of Monbulk. Luckily for us we have many fond memories of both Trish and Max.
Last night our Miniatures Sewing Circle met. We meet on the 4th Monday night of the month. We had some new ladies come for the first time. Welcome to Nicky, Jenny and Sonia. Our new project for 2008 was to be a Double Wedding Ring. Lyn was going to show us what to do.
We had a full house so l had to sit out of the group (luckily me thinks). The girls traced their templates and then started piecing the arcs together. There was a lot of complaining. You know the type of thing - the pieces were too small, this is going to take a life time etc etc. Some of them got a few blocks together. They are tincy wincy.
Well, we will see how committed they are when we meet again next month won't we.
Meanwhile l appliqued a flower onto Block One of my Butterfly Garden quilt. I had a lovely night!
While l was on the blog l found a pic of Anni's Block of the Month. She's not sure when that is due out. But we will definitely be offering it. It is yummy. I have seen a pic, appliqued flowers and vases but that is all l am allowed to tell you.
Pete is going to email some pics for me and as he does l will post them in an album.
I have started hinting that it would be nice if Anni and Pete would pay us a visit when they are down for the Trade Show in November. If they ignore my pleas l will have to start a petition and show them just how much we'd like to catch up with them.
A brand newie from Willow Valley Store. The pattern features a Stitcher's Roll, Needle Book and yes, there's more, a Zippered Pouch.
All made out of fat quarters. Cathy has even included the Cotton Inch Twill Tape in the Pattern. Cost (inc GST).....AUD$17.60. Email your order and I'll pop it in the mail faster than you can say Cotton Twill Tape! And trust me, that is not easy to say.
Thank goodness for the blog. l had an email from my friend Elissa asking about Anni's new book.
So I've been on the Hatched and Patched website and there it was, rough sketches and little else. Needed more information and so sent Anni an email. Looks like her little book of stitcheries will be out in June. And so what else could l do but place an order for 30 of them. They will be in our Sewing at St Georges gift bags. (Our sewing day is on Saturday June 21st. We used to call it SPA day, but that became very confusing, people thought there would be other things going on apart from stitching.)
That means those of you who attend will be amongst the first to have your very own copy. How special is that?
March, April, May Calendar I am away from Saturday April 15th until Monday May 8th. going on a road trip with seven other ladies from Chicago to Nashville. Along the way there will be a quilt shop or 2 and 4 days at the Paducah Quilt Market. I will be posting my adventures on the blog and Facebook.
The shop will be closed during that time.
