The question on everyone's lips..... I love ric rac and sell it in all colours and sizes, my fav would have to be the linen ric rac. Have never known how you measure the width of the different ric racs until now.
Great to use when doing embroidery, simply run through your printer, press onto your background fabric and start stitching.
Then simply remove by submerging in warm water, agitate for 2 - 3 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
Yesterday we had another day in th 40's. And of course it was a Total Fire Ban day. I worked back last night and about 5.45 the fire siren went. A bad thing to happen on a Total Fire Ban day. When the trucks went out they headed right. That means there's a possibility they are heading towards my house. I checked the Internet, there was a grass fire in Monbulk. We live out of town and are surrounded by paddocks. Rang home and Ray said that the power had recently gone off.
I left for home at about 7.00, came around a corner (700m from my place) and was stopped by a CFA volunteer. Ahead were 3 fire trucks.
Apparently a gum tree branch had come down across power lines, they do that in this weather. Of course this started a grass fire. Luckily the CFA acted very quickly and got everything under control.
So a big thank you to the CFA. We hold the Monbulk Community Quilt Show each March to raise funds for the Monbulk CFA. They deserve every cent we can send their way.
To all you people who live in places where 43 is the norm. I can't ever remember being this hot to be honest. It is 38 inside the shop. And another day just like it tomorrow.
l try to take the weather in my stride and don't complain about it to customers. Get my jobs done, although l may get them done a little slower. So my apologies to you dear friends, but l feel better now.
I am off home to enjoy an ice cold beer, there is nothing nicer on a day like today. I am certainly glad l am not playing in the Australian Open at the moment. Roll on Saturday, it is only going to be 35C.
Check out the New Patterns Album. There are 2 from Leanne Beasley, one from Melly and Me and a great one called Quilt Shoppe from Lynette Anderson. (I am sure Mrs Martin's Quilt Shop inspired Lynette - only joking, but a girl can dream can't she?)
Today our temperature reached 41C. They are predicting 40C plus for the next 3 days. A record they say. the last time Victoria suffered a heat wave like this was in the early 1900's. It's the type of record l would be happy not to be a part of to be honest.
Anyway had scheduled a Quilt til you Wilt for this Friday, it was booked out. I have decided to put it off for a week. Two girls can't make if so we have a place for you if you'd like to join us.
Annette if you read this please get in touch with me. I don't have an email address or a phone number to tell you about the change in plans.
Take a look at these three yummy bags from Bronwyn Hayes. I can't resist, l will be placing an order for them tomorrow. I am guessing around the $17 mark, but will know more when they arrive. Just couldn't resist showing them to you .
And there's this one.
And the lucky last is the Ric Rac Bag.
Will have more details as soon as they are available. Sorry the pics are all over the place.
Thank you so much to all of you who have signed up for out Christmas in July Swap. Thirty eight so far. The cut off date is not until February 14th so l am guessing we may still have more people who may be interested. It's nice to know that there are others out there who love Christmas as much as l do, or maybe you just all love swaps. Doesn't matter really does it.
March, April, May Calendar I am away from Saturday April 15th until Monday May 8th. going on a road trip with seven other ladies from Chicago to Nashville. Along the way there will be a quilt shop or 2 and 4 days at the Paducah Quilt Market. I will be posting my adventures on the blog and Facebook.
The shop will be closed during that time.
