Thank you so much to all of you who have been in touch. Firstly just to check that we are okay, but more importantly to offer to donate quilts and blocks that can be made into quilts for victims of the fires.
We will take anything you are happy to donate. I have emailed Australia Post asking them if they would donate free postage for people who would like to send quilts to us. I will let you know as soon as l hear from them.
As for blocks and quilt tops. We will accept anything. When your donations arrive we will decide how best to put them together. My friend Kerry is making some 6 1/2 inch blocks up featuring hearts. That's just one idea.
Also thought that if anyone would like to make soft toys of any description they would be perfect for little kids. I know there was a knitted teddy pattern going around that would be perfect. If anyone would like to share their pattern l would appreciate it.
Sounds like l am rambling but l have all these ideas going through my head that l'd like to share.
We will take any donations at the shop. Our details are Mrs Martin's Quilt Shop, 153 Main St, Monbulk, Victoria, Australia, 3793.
Kind regards
Karen
Hey Karen! HOORAY!! I've been desperately trying to find someone who is co-ordinating a quilt/block collection for the fire victims because I've had a number of overseas ladies ask if there's anything they can DO to help out and so many of us may not have ready cash to donate, but boy oh boy ... we have stashes of fabric!!! So ... I will post about your collection and put a link back to you so people can contact you directly and I will be heading into my sewing room this arvo to see what I can come up with. I'm only an 'amateur' quilter, mostly designing bears/dolls/stitcheries/wall hangings, but if I go with the K.I.S.S. principle, I should be able to send you something!! :0) Thank you so much for doing this and giving us 'doers' a chance to help out! Bear Hugs! KRIS
