Is one brave little dog, remember this girl is almost 15. Yesterday l dropped her off at the vets to have 2 teeth removed. We were concerned because of her age but went ahead with it because there really wasn't any choice. I was told she's be first to be operated on and they'd ring me to let me know how she'd got on.
After 4 1/2 hours l rang them. Was told she was still under and they'd taken 7 teeth. I was shocked. They finally rang an hour later and told me they had taken 14 teeth. They did all this without any consultation. They explained that once she was under and they started cleaning her teeth they found they needed to come out, which they did very easily.
I understand that the teeth had to come out but their communication was very poor. When Ray went to pick her up they agreed that they should have been in touch with us.
She's drugged to the eyeballs and her little mouth is full of stitches and very swollen. She's not a happy girl. To top it off the painkillers they gave are in tablet form - can't believe that. There will be a phone call made as soon as the vet opens to sort that out.
By the way did you know dogs have 42 teeth? I am having a tooth taken out on Wednesday. Glad the vet's not doing it, who knows what might happen?
