Labels.....

Another short cut from the Lazy Quilter. (If l have mentioned this before please ignore what l am about to write.) I have always been a bit slack with labels, in fact most of my stuff doesn't have a label.

I found a cookie cutter in the shape of a house at the Healesville Market. The house shape is perfect for me as Mrs Martin's is in a house. All l did was join 2 pieces of fabric together. Trace the house shape onto vliesofix, iron it onto the back of the fabric and cut it out. Typed up my name, the name of the project and the date on the computer using a font l liked and adjusted the size so that it fitted onto the back of the quilt label. Trace that onto the house shape using a permanent marker. Ironed it onto the back of the quilt and then blanket stitched around to keep it in place.

In fact l made a stack of them and they are ready to go. It may be cheating but at least l am getting labels onto my work.

PS This one hasn't been ironed on yet which is why it looks a bit bumpy. Oh and by the way there are a squillion different cookie cutters available.

A Heartfelt Christmas......

A book by Wendy Brigg. To my knowledge Wendy isn't designing any more which is a shame as l loved her work. We used this book for a sewing day years ago and l found a copy during the move - am still unpacking and reorganising. There are 8 projects in all, each using felt. Take a look here if you'd like more details.

Some one will help me.....

A couple of years ago l had a subscription for American Patchwork and Quilting. It ran out and l haven't be able to subscribe again because l live in Australia. I don't want to ring them. Has anyone else in Australia had any luck taking out a subscription for the mag? If so, would you like to share how you managed it. There is no way to email them if you don't live in the States or Canada, or at least no way l have found to.

A city walk.....

A friend gave me a book of walks for Christmas (thank you Helena). Yesterday we did one of the city walks in and around the Docklands. We spent 3 hours discovering places we didn't know about.

Finished the day with a beer at a bar overlooking the Yarra. A very pleasant day.

You know you are on holidays when.....

You can start off slowly in the morning.

And..... you don't need to cook because you are eating left overs.

Am heading off to the Boxing Day sales today. The microwave died just before Christmas, didn't think we needed to replace it but having been without it for a couple of weeks decided we do need one. How else do you heat up the left overs?
