Wendy made a comment about the price we have to sell fabric for. I couldn't agree more, compared to the US our fabric is very expensive. I know customers do source fabric over the internet and are able to get it at a far cheaper price. I cannot buy it for what it is sold for in the States.
Sad really because little shops like mine can't compete, in fact many in my area have closed down. Another reason why l decided to move Mrs Martin's back home, to cut costs. So many designers and quilt groups run their own stitching days, my move has allowed me to take the shop to these events.

Well, the postage for a flat rate envelope from the US (which admittedly can hold up to 8 yards) has just gone up to $23.95 (or $24.95, not sure which) from $16.95. I try to support local as much as I can - as you know Karen!

Oh my goodness! The postal system needs to leave postage alone! I really do feel bad that the local shop is hurting because of the cost of fabric. It is almost like the fabric companies don't want people to buy their goods. Maybe someday the prices will go down to a reasonable amount for everyone. I was just amazed that fabrics cost so much for those across the pond. An eye opener for sure. And of course when I said you girls should boycott, I meant the fabric factories! Not your local shops. Please do support your local quilt/fabric shops. I wish I had one in my little town.
