In the St German region. I have been marinating in culture today. 50 Shades planned a trip that was only a few train stops from where we are staying. It was also a place that one of my customers suggested, so he was shocked and stunned when l mentioned it, of course he already knew about it.
I only got outside pics because photos inside weren't allowed. For those of you who don't know about it the building was formally a railway station which has been fluffed up and looks stunning. From the bit of info l have in front of me the building itself is an art nouveau showpiece, pinched that from my little book of Paris.
Today I have seen the works of several artists l have heard of my whole life which is special and again makes me want to find out more. A bit of name dropping now ..... Renoir, Cezanne, Monet, Rubens and Van Gogh. I have seen the most amazing paintings and sculptures today. Hard not to be impressed.
I was interested in seeing how old each of these artists were. Van Gogh.... Only 36 when he died, a very sad death so 50 Shades tells me. Yet he left such a legacy for us to enjoy.
The gallery actually had some picture story books that explained some of the artists and their works in simple terms, perfect for me. I am being very careful about how much goes into the suit cases, but if there is such a book available in Australia l just might seek it out.
After the gallery which we wandered for several hours we walked around the local streets, our feet were screaming so home a bit earlier today, we have a big day planned for tomorrow. Au revoir Kxxx
