Have no idea what date it is...... Set off early this morning, we are staying about 10 minutes out of Paris, the trains here are brilliant, just as they were in London.... Do you here me Victorian politicians?
We hit Notre Dam at 9.00am this morning. I am not going to bore you with facts, (well maybe one, it's 850 years old this year).....just my experience. Firstly l can't believe l was standing in such a magnificent building that was built so long ago. It never ceases to amaze me how clever the people who designed and built these buildings were all those years ago without the technology we now have.
Have to mention the stain glass windows, stunning doesn't do them justice, but they were.
I don't know about you but l try to do the right thing..... No matter where l am, there were signs everywhere saying no cameras. Well l was the only person who took any notice, people clicked away the whole time we were there. I am also probably the only person in the who didn't realise it's been built on an island on the Seine.
One more thing about the Seine, l remember reading somewhere about the locks on the bridge. Young lovers attach a lock with their names/ date to the bridge. Both sides of the bridge were totally covered. "Bloody stupid idea" said 50 Shades.
