I had a lady ask after KD threads, l know she sent a message with a list of those she wanted, but l cannot for the life of me find that message, fingers crossed she will read this post.

Field Journal Club.....

I am processing Block1 of the Field Journal Club this morning. Those of you who ordered the threads will also receive the Exclusive Thread Kit.

Those of you who already have the threads will have to wait til next month to get your Exclusive Thread Kit as these didn't arrive with my order, at least you can start stitching.

The ladies ran out of hoops, these will be included with your next post out.

Gotta love a Charm Pack.....

This arrived yesterday, I think l am going to have to make something with a couple of sets of charm packs, all reds, blues and creams.

A quilt show update.....

FB has been reminding me over the weekend that my screen time is down. Have been told by the docs to limit screen time and sewing because of the headaches l have been getting. So quick posts from me to let you know about the Quilt Show.

Viewer's Choice. This is just a bit of fun, to be honest l think every quilt entered deserved a prize. But we limited it to just 2.

Love the quilt that got the most votes, Round Our Garden is a Wendy William's pattern. The lovely Judi Porter tweaked the quilt a little to make it about her neighbourhood, so she left our the lighthouses and added some of the lovely trees up here, she included some of our native birds and added her own family home to the neighbourhood. The quilt was bright and full of things to see. Some of us have decided we might like work on our own version of the quilt.

Judi was lucky enough to win a hamper that had a set of Jen Kingwell books and lots of other bits.

Hampers .....

When you came to pay your $5 to get into the quilt show you were probably asked to buy a $1 ticket to be in the draw for 2 full to the brim hampers.

The winners were Peggy, a red ticket D58 and Jen B, an Orange ticket C68. Jen came down and claimed her hamper straight away. Peggy is calling in next week to collect hers. Both ladies were delighted with their prizes.

Well, Monbulk Quilt Show

Is done and dusted for another year. And what a day it was. The heat was bad everywhere and sadly many communities were hit by the fires. We can only hope that people's properties and of course people are safe.

Although the weather was against us we still had many visit the show, numbers were indeed down, but l would like to thank those who did venture up to Monbulk.

Had lots of positive feedback from the folks who had trade tables, the heat didn't stop people from spending and they have all rebooked for 2020.

Hope the 1st 100 through the doors enjoyed their showbags. Hope the next 100 through the door can use the bags of 4 threads that were kindly bundled up and donated by Howard from Yarra Valley Quilt Yarn and Sew. Isn't it lovely to see 2 shops work together for a great cause.

Warning, l am about to rant!

Yesterday we had the Monbulk Quilt Show for the Monbulk CFA. The Monbulk crew were on alert, just like all other brigades in the area.

This morning we headed off to Cardinia Reservoir to walk along the dam wall. When you look towards Gembrook there is a lot of smoke, the were 5 choppers flying above us towards the fires, one scooped up water from the reservoir.

Didn't mention it's a total Fire Ban today, there are signs everywhere. We parked in the car park. There was another car parked a little bit away from us, next to a grassed area. There was a person sitting in the car, window down having a cigarette, looking at the view. Couldn't believe my eyes, she was flicking the ash out the car window. Saw her do this twice and l couldn't help myself.

Went over to the car and there was a young woman (about the same age as the idiot that ran into the back of my car on Australia Day). I told her that it was a total fire ban day, the smoke she could see was coming from fires not that far away and that the helicopters that had just flown overhead weren't on a joy flight. I asked her not to flick the ash out the car window as it's dangerous.

Knock me over with a feather, her response was that she was only flicking the ash out, she had all intentions of putting the cigarette butt into the ashtray in the car, which she pointed to just in case l wasn't aware of what an ashtray was used for or in fact what one looked like.

I just looked at her, shook my head in disbelief and walked off. Did do a walk around out car just in case she felt the urge to key it !

One of the few times l didn't have my phone with me, l would have taken a pic of her rego and reported her to the police.

Ahhh, that feels better!!!

Show Day Specials.....

Some of the shops in Main St are offering Show Day Specials. Look for this yellow sign with the fire truck on in participating shop windows. (That may well be poor English!). I know the lady up at Poochies is offering a special price on a nail clip for your dog.

The lady from Plant Rescue operates from her home, her back yard is full of great plants at good prices. You'll find her on David Hill Rd, on the right heading towards Emerald. Well worth a visit.
