Step 1.....Gathering the bits
This is a scrappy quilt so the first thing l did was go through the scrap drawers that l have at the shop and grabbed anything that was green or red. As long as it was predominantly those two colours it went into the box.
The beauty is that you can use any strip of fabric. I waited until l had a box full before l started trimming the pieces up. Next time l would probably trim as l add them to the box.
Press each piece and trim back. I only trimmed across the grain of the fabric. I didn't cut any thing less than 1 1/2 inches or more than 3 1/2 inches.
Of course you don't have to make a Christmas quit. I have made one where each block is a different colour. Separate your scraps into colour ways and make a green block, a pink block, a blue block etc and join them together.
